It occurred to me that the characters of DO would seem really cozy and at home in a Christmas-y setting. Then my my mind wandered to christmas music, and I just felt like asking:
What is your favourite piece of Christmas music?
Because mine is " A Wonderful Christmas Time" by Paul McCartney

Oh Have yourself a merry little christmas. By Judy Garland.
![]() | Brett-Butler (+85) |
Either Under the Tree by Water Babies or Fairytale of New York by the Pogues.
![]() | Driscoll (+944) |
That really mellow piano song from the Charlie Brown Christmas thing. The one that sounds like the musical embodiment of the word "shucks."

Wow that Charlie brown song sounds really cozy. It would be great as background music to any of those wallpapers you have made Driscoll. And know that charlie brown is brought up, i do see a bit of charlie brown in your art. And I checked out those other christmas songs. I had never even heard any of them before , but they all make me wish I could be under a giant blanket next to a calm fireplace as the snow falls outside.

Christmas in Hollis by Run DMC. "My name's DMC with the mike in my hand, and I'm chillin' and coolin' just like a snowman"
Other than that, the charlie brown christmas soundtrack by the Vince Guaraldi Trio.

The Polar Express by Tom Hanks xD

My favourite is "Stop the Cavalry" by Jona Lewie.
"Fairytale of New York" by The Pouges is a close second though.

After several years in retail (I finally made it out!), I really have a difficult time listening to any Christmas music. Listening to it for 40+ hours a week for a month (or more) pretty much killed it for me.
Bah humbug.

Happy Xmas: War Is Over. John and Yoko. God bless us, everyone.

My favorite Christmas song is "Christmas is All Around" by Billy Mack. Unless you count the Hallelujah Chorus as Christmas music, in which case, that.
My general feelings towards Christmas music is that it is nice but not nice enough to listen to 1/12th of the time.

You know I do the same damn thing each year.
It starts off with Christmas music being played even before November starts. In Michigan the music starts when October has just a week left of it. Christmas music starts even before HALLOWEEN begins. It's not full blown Christmas music, not at stage one. It's usually music that could be passed as either Christmas music or not, depending on how you wanna take it. Usually played off and on, by an artist you really like, so your not taken completly off gaurd/and or bothered by it. Then they start to ease away from 'this COULD be Christmas music' to 'Classic Christmas Music you kinda nastalgia at'.Such as the Jackson 5 singing something off their Christmas album. You realize you are listening to Christmas music in October, but then you think 'it's such a good song I haven't heard in a while, the heck with it.' And when your nodding your head to yet ANOTHER remake of 'Can you hear what I hear' or 'Drummer Boy' (both in which get so creepy they barely tred on the 'Happy innocent Christmas Song' line) you being to realize your radio stations are now going to play Christmas music from countries you've never even heard off, and that's when you realize how out of hand it's got, AND YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
Now you are listening to 'I'll be home for Christmas' for the 5th time and you realize you have to sit through this for at least 2 more months. Now stage 3 hits, the stage where you feel yourself getting angry at people for completly skipping Thanksgiving. You just KNOW somewhere, in the pits of the music industry, someone somewhere made a 'happy thanksgiven' song, and you demand it be played because God Dammit if you listen to another catchy jingle about a snowman who likes to play with little kids one more time your going to explode. So you get all the things you need to get together to complain to the music stations, and you even recited a really nice rant in your head your going to tell/write them, and to get you motivated, you turn on the TV or radio so you can let that 'Holiday Cheer' feed your fuel just a little bit more. THIS is where you make your mistake. Almost like your radio knows what you are doing, it suddenly starts playing calm gentle, sit by the fire music, and you end up feeling completly numb inside and maybe even a little excited for Christmas. So you put your phone away and decide to go downtown to look at the many Christmas decorations already up, wondering why you were angry in the first place.
And I do this every single year. Some R and B version of 'Deck the Halls' is playing, and I'm enjoying every bit of it.
Merry Christmas, ya'll.

I echo Samiam's TSO Carol of the Bells, but I also like the version from the Home Alone soundtrack.
And Rare, I sympathize. Every time I go into a store and hear "Simply ha-a-aving a wonderful Christmas time" on repeat, I imagine the employees slowly going insane, one of them eventually snapping and going on a murderous rampage. "Merry Christmas, you filthy animals...and a Happy New Year." []

Christmas became appropiate conversation at the start of today.
Any earlier and it is just silly.
![]() | 2me (+1703) (mod) |
And Taco, I agree: Christmas is overrated.
![]() | Samiam (+610) |
I echo your position to Rare,
I start hearing lots of Christmas music in the malls starting today. To make it worse you see some decorations appearing around store fronts. its a shame to see trees put before thanksgiving.
![]() | jt_the_ninja (+1163) |
Indeed. We know how to buy presents, but not how to give thanks. []

The Holly and the Ivy.
I love that song but no one ever knows it.
The holly and the ivy, when they are both full grown, of all the leaves that are in the woods, the holly bears the crown. Oh, the rising of the sun, and the running of the deer, the playing of the merry organ, sweet singing in the choir.

I'm a big fan of Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, Bing Crosby/Doris Day version of Baby, It's Cold Outside, Winter Wonderland, and other various old-timey sounding songs.
Also, Stephen Colbert's Christmas soundtrack.
